AU SOLEIL LEVANT

This series was inspired by the ice storm that hit northeastern New Brunswick in the winter of 2017. Au soleil levant aspired to creatively highlight the community collaboration and mutual aid witnessed, and the positivism which followed this difficult period for the Lamèque and Miscou Islands’ inhabitants.

During this ice storm, we witnessed unprecedented support and generosity from the population in the communities of Lamèque and Miscou Islands.

Au soleil levant was created on Father Patrick McGraw’s initiative, who wanted to positively and creatively highlight this difficult event and the community spirit that emerged. Light becomes the common thread of the exhibition to reflect the one generated during this trying time.

The artist is particularly proud to participate in this exhibition project in Lamèque, the place of her birth and childhood.
